The |nasal cavity| is situated between the lachrymal sac (tear duct) and the |inferior meatus| of the |nose|. The cavity, or duct, is about three-quarters of an inch in length. The walls of the |nasal cavity|, including the middle and inferior conchae (scroll-like bone flaps) are lined with |mucous membrane| and coated with mucosa. |Cilia| line the |mucous membrane| of the |nasal cavity|. Although the |cilia| is often connected to olfactory receptors (smell receptors), about 95% of the |nasal cavity| is unrelated to smell.
